Embedding Google Maps

edit David P. Janes 2007-08-22 23:02 UTC 1  comment

Google has (finally) announced a way to embed Google Maps in webpages, in much the same way a YouTube video can be embedded. We're going to see if we can create a [[*map=...] (like we have for videos and images now) so you can drop these in anywhere in your blog posts.

We'll still be keeping our Map structured data extensions, as that actually has semantic meaning toward the post (plus we can do other tricks, like navigating between posts with a map!)

Google Maps now supports microformats

Google Maps now supports hCards. What does this mean? With a little magic (which will be universally available across all cool browsers in a year or so), if you look up an interesting location you can add it directly to your address book ... or maybe your business intelligence app.
